LOD WinterFest 24'

Steve Forbert & The New Renditions

Special Guests: Amanda Cross with Derek Cruz

Many years before Americana music earned its own category at the Grammys, STEVE FORBERT left his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi in his early 20s and headed for the Big Apple in search of recording deals and larger audiences. He started out busking at Grand Central Station and hitting every possible open mic before moving into the club scene at spots like New York City’s CBGB’s. At a time when punk was the flavor of the moment, Forbert’s folk pop “Romeo’s Tune” hit #11 on the charts and brought him into the international spotlight. Since then he’s been the torchbearer of that sound for over four decades, faithfully delivering a mix of folk, roots-rock and richly delivered storytelling. From Mississippi to CBGB’s, from gold records to Grammy nominations, from his 1978 debut album Alive On Arrival to 2022’s vital Moving Through America, Steve’s been intrepidly navigating the inherent twists and turns of the music business by doing it his way!

About Moving Through America

Backed by the same band that appeared on his collection of cover songs, Early Morning Rain, in 2020, Steve Forbert fills Moving Through America with songs that are every bit as spirited as "Romeo's Tune," his Top 20 hit from 1979's gold-certified Jackrabbit Slim. The album marks the latest chapter in a story that's still unfolding, with Forbert serving as an elder statesman of Americana music while continuing to create music that's spry and steadfast.
